Asheville Icons

Fall 2016

Asheville Icons is a graphic design project consisting of models of famous buildings in Asheville.  The goal of this project was to learn more about what goes into logo and graphic design such as color, scale, and hierarchy.  I also wanted to improve my skills in Adobe Illustrator.  As I was doing research for this project I only found one other artist who had created icons of Asheville buildings.  Seeing only one other example of Asheville icons also pushed me towards this project.  The buildings are done in a flat design style so that it would be easier for me to create the icons but still be able to include detail.  I chose the building based on recognizability in popularity.  These are City Hall, The Jackson Building, and Asheville High School.  All of the icons were made with Illustrator and images of the buildings for reference.
